1. PLACES / ALLIGATOR HILL TRAIL
Our family LOVED hiking the Alligator Hill Trail in Leelanau County, Michigan! There are a few distance options which makes it ideal for families since you can choose how far you’d like to go. There is some slight elevation to get up to the lookout, but it is worth every step (and it’s definitely manageable for kids). Once you reach the top you have a breath taking view of Lake Michigan as well as the North & South Manitou Islands. The hike is mostly wooded, so there is lots of shade to keep everyone cool and comfortable. As a major bonus, the whole trail was lined with wild blackberry & raspberry bushes when we were hiking in July, so we foraged our way down the trail! Trails total 9 miles divided into a few loops so you can tailor the distance to your family. Trail submitted by Michelle Compton
