1. PLACES / POWDER MILL LEDGES WILDLIFE REFUGE
Powder Mill Ledges Wildlife Refuge is headquarters for the Rhode Island Audubon Society, and home to three awesome nature trails totaling to around 2.75 miles. Enter the trail from directly behind the Trailhead sign (not to the right), walk through a buzzing meadow and beyond an old New England stone wall into a pine forest. Walk up the power lines and dip right to stay on the blue trail, or continue further to the yellow trail (this will add .5 miles). The path takes you through the pine forest again, over a couple foot bridges and along side a small pond. The end of the trail puts you at the meadow where you began. Birds found along this trail, Wild Turkey, Cooper’s Hawk, Barred Owl, Great Horned Owl, Eastern Screech Owl, Pine Warbler, Black-throated Green Warbler, Ovenbird, Red-eyed Vireo.
