1. PLACES / KENNETH HAHN STATE RECREATION AREA LOOP
Kenneth Hahn State Rec. Area has a lot to offer for different abilities and interests. Those who prefer hiking with strollers or are handicapable have many paved trails to choose from. This particular guide is for a loop of the park and does have sometimes narrow or dirt trails, so strollers/wheelchairs are not recommended for all parts of this loop. Once entering the park, turn left into the first parking area. Begin hiking along the road/path heading west; the trail will take you in a clockwise circuit of the park. Your first stop will be the Doris Japanese Garden, with a giant koi pond filled with turtles, koi, and lily pads, Japanese statues and art, and a bridge (non-accessible). Continue along the trail to view a man-made waterfall; then head uphill to a viewpoint. There are multiple trail options at this point, but if you stay towards the north side you will be able to see some great views of the LA skyline. Descend back down the hill to the Great Loop, a paved trail that circles a crater-like area in the middle of the park. Continue towards the road and follow a decorated path back towards the parking area. There are playgrounds and restrooms along the way, and if you cross the street there are lakes, waterfalls, and a man-made creek to enjoy.
